Kia ora e te whānau,
Welcome back to Term Two. Well, at least this weather gives us good reason to be grateful for our school building design and an undercover car park! It is also great to see the scaffolding down and our new signage up.
North Shore Careers Expo
Now is the time of year when students looking at leaving school next year are making big decisions about their futures.
The North Shore Careers Expo is organised by several North Auckland schools (of which Albany Senior High School is part) to bring together over 80 different study and employment groups to assist in that decision-making journey. Held over two days at North Harbour Stadium, this is an opportunity for students, parents, and guardians to learn more about these options for next year (and beyond).
Albany Senior High School has been allocated Thursday, 11 May, from 9.30 am – 10.30 am as a whole school to attend the expo (through tutor time). This is the day year 13 is rostered home and is also a scheduled regional strike day. If the strike action proceeds, I strongly encourage students to utilise the time that has been allocated to attend the expo themselves (or with parents/guardians) throughout the day.
Important dates, rostering home and NCEA Accord Day
There are a number of dates that will see the school impacted by a national NCEA Accord day and ongoing PPTA Strike Action which will see year groups rostered home across the country on specific dates. Note – both of these disruptions are beyond the school’s control and know we are doing the best we can to minimise the impact on our young people. Thank you for continuing to support our amazing teachers.
