Mid term break, academic stocktakes
and arrival cards
Kia ora e te whānau,
Mid term break
Friday, this week, 23 August is mid term break so the school is closed.
Academic stocktakes
These are a really important event in tutorials when tutors work with students to process a report of their NCEA progress so far across their courses. The number of credits achieved to date along with any standards that students may not have achieved are used to consider how best students might use the rest of their year to maximise their chances of reaching their academic goals.
Arrival cards
We are trialling a new system for the remainder of this term for students who arrive late for any period of the day. This system is intended to give increased opportunities for students to build relationships with their teachers. Students who are late will now be given an arrival card at reception which they give to their teachers when they arrive in class. The teacher will then update attendance for that student. There is a chance that you may receive an absent text, if your young person has arrived late for their first period class. The teacher of this class may not have had the opportunity to modify their roll, after having entered the student as being absent, before the absence text is sent. If a class has a reliever for that teacher, students will need to return the slip to reception at the end of the class. Please address all queries about unexplained absences to your young person’s Tutor teacher.
