Kia ora e te whānau,
It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of term already. We are thankful for what has felt like an uninterrupted term of learning and thankful for some sunshine as well – long may that last! Thank you for your ongoing support in getting your young people to school.
This is also a heads up that I will be out of school from Monday attending the Deeper Learning conference in San Diego. A big thanks, in advance, to the senior leadership team for keeping the waka on track whilst I am away. Cristina Casey will be Acting Principal in my absence.
Teacher only days and school closures
With so many closures over the past few years we are working hard to keep are doors open! However there are a few days ahead where we are required to close our campus. I just wanted to ensure you had plenty of notice.
School will close at 12.40pm on Tuesday 28th March due to Learning Dialogues.
School will also be closed on Monday 24th April, alongside all schools within our Kahui Ako as we will be holding our biennial conference which will bring together over 300 teachers and staff members from across our ‘Whānau ki te Ako’ schools (which includes Albany Junior High School, Albany Primary School, Upper Harbour Primary School, Greenhithe School, Ridgeview School and Coatesville School). The school will also be closed for the commemoration of Anzac Day on Tuesday 25th April.
And finally, the school will be closed on Thursday 4th May for a NCEA Accord Day. This is a day that all schools in New Zealand are required to take in the first two weeks of Term Two.
Transport from Warkworth to ASHS
We have a parent keen to gauge interest in a bus service from Warkworth. If you have a young person who might benefit from a regular bus service from Warkworth to ASHS can please contact Angela at angela@matakanacoffee.co.nz
Student drop offs and pick ups
We are experiencing dangerous levels of congestion due to the number of parents and caregivers waiting in the bus bay area at the end of the school day. We appreciate that our location is tricky for parking elsewhere and that the weather remediation work has also impacted the bus bay area. Please note that the drop off and pick up zone is in the Level One Carpark. Please use the carpark rather than waiting in the bus bay area. Thank you!
Reporting absences
Just a reminder to use the KAMAR app to report any absences. Alternatively, you can email absences@ashs.school.nz please do not email info@ashs.school.nz
Stay home if sick!
We are seeing a spike students attending school with cold and flu symptoms. This is just a reminder that if any students are feeling unwell, have a cough, cold or a temperature that we encourage them to please stay home. Please email the school if your young person is ever absent from school. You can email absences@ashs.school.nz
