Kia ora e te whānau,
Just a quick update. We are working very hard to come up with a plan that will suit everyone, with a mixture of face to face classes for those who need it and online learning to continue for those preferring to work from home. All students will be given the opportunity to return to school in the coming weeks. We are, however, looking at a rolling timetable to minimise numbers onsite at any one time so as to keep everyone as safe as possible.
I also wanted to let you know that we have just shared a questionnaire with your young person asking them to signal if they intend to come into school on their rostered days, just to help us with our planning. Please support them to complete the survey by the end of the day.
Once again, please rest assured that all staff at Albany Senior High School are working towards being fully vaccinated and all staff onsite will be required to return a negative test before returning to school. We will also ensure we have safety measures in place such as mandatory mask wearing, regular hand and surface cleaning, increased ventilation and as much social distancing as possible.
I know this announcement will have affected everyone differently, with some being excited and others nervous. We will do our best to meet the needs of all of our young people (and staff and community) and we will do everything we can to make this transition as safe as possible.
We will be sending out detailed plans for Week Two and Three in the morning!
Until then…
