You will have now, undoubtedly, heard the announcement that school can open for seniors from Tuesday next week. At ASHS we will be looking at designing an approach that will control numbers of students on site at any one time. This will include offering a hybrid approach to learning and assessment where students successfully working from home may continue to do so, rolling workshops where limted numbers can come on site (where is it determined that this is the best way to support them), such as for practical subjects and those students who need some face to face support.
You can expect to receive a questionnaire tomorrow where we will ask you to signal if your young person needs/wants to return to school to support their learning and we will share more details about our planning at that stage as well.
Rest assured that all staff at Albany Senior High School are working towards being fully vaccinated and all staff onsite will be required to return a negative test before returning to school. We will also ensure we have safety measures in place such as mandatory mask wearing, regular hand and surface cleaning, increased ventilation and as much social distancing as possible.
I know this announcement will have affected everyone differently, with some being excited and others nervous. We will do our best to meet the needs of all of our young people (and staff and community) and we will do everything we can to make this transition as safe as possible.
Please hold off on any queries until we have had a chance to share our plans which we will send later tomorrow.
