ASHS Athletics Day
ASHS's first Athletics Day was Held on Monday 16th of February, all students and staff involved had a fantastic day. Students competed in the regular track and field events as well as the very popular novelty events. These included the limbo, a piggy back and 3-legged race as well as a gumboot throw. All the students enjoyed being involved in events where they could be with their friends, that were fun, different and ones that didn't involve running!
We had some impressive results from some talented athletes. First place for each event is stated below.

Athletics day was also a competition between the Learning Communities. Each of the four communities dressed up in their team colours, which are orange, blue, black and white as well as red. Each community gained points for participation, best dressed, behaviour, sportsmanship and for placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an event. The winning Learning Community was black and white with 329 points. Orange came second followed by red and blue with 308, 283 and 193 points respectively. Well done black and white!
North Harbour Athletics Zone Day
Based on their success in the School Athletics Day students qualified for the North Harbour Zones. The following students attended the day on Tuesday 3rd March.

ASHS produced some impressive results! Ashley placed 1st in both the 100m and 200m events, Jana placed 1st in the Triple Jump, Cole came 1st in the High Jump and Caleb placed 2nd in in the 400m. Other stand out performances include Abbie and Jana making the 100m finals, Dave making the 100m boys finals and Amelia making the 400m finals.
North Harbour Championships
Four students qualified for the Champs on Tuesday 17th March: Jana, Cole, Ashley and Caleb. More outstanding results were achieved: Ashley Came 1st in the 200m and 2nd in the 100m, Jana came 2nd in the Triple Jump and Cole once again placed first in the High Jump.
North Island Championships
Ashley and Jana narrowly missed out on a place at the North Island Champs but Cole was selected to compete for the North Harbour team. The event was held in Wellington on 4th and 5th of April. Cole had a great time at the event, meeting new people from all over the North Island. He competed well and gained 4th place in the High Jump. ASHS is very proud of Cole and what he has achieved (4th is the North Island!). Over all the events this year Cole's Personal best jump is 1.85cm!
